The ages of the 4 guys who were gathered in one of the guys' place one rainy night, talking about random stuff.
It is refreshing to hear the opinions of people from different age groups, whether they are younger or older than you. Sometimes, looking at the same issue from a slightly different angle, or seeing things from another perspective makes things seem so crystal clear.
Last night, one of the guys had a problem. Or rather, he thought he had a problem. From the perspectives of the other 3 guys, the answer was simple. As one of them put it, the answer is in the question. "When you have to ask yourself that kind of question, it is quite obvious what is it that you really want, no?"
Another guy said something along these lines, "If I were you, I am sure I would be in the same predicament, thinking very hard, if not harder about which path to take. But since I am not you, it is as though I am here in the audience watching a live performance, looking at you, the protagonist who is on the stage, so to me the answer is as easy as ABC."
The third guy said, "I may be a little biased, but I would recommend the 2nd choice, because I stand to gain a little if you make that choice. On the other hand, as your senior and as your friend, I will give you my sincere support no matter which choice you make, as long as you will have no regrets."
The first guy and the second guy echoed the third guy when they agreed unanimously that, "At the end of the day, it is your life, and no one should tell you how to live it, not your parents, nor your teachers, nor your friends, nor your enemies. They can give you advice and feedback, but they cannot make your choice for you, the same way they cannot live your life for you. So do take your time if you need to or want to, but make sure that when you do decide, it is because you really want it, and not because you are afraid of hurting somebody or because you do not want to disappoint somebody."
In the end, the guy with the problem could not come to a conclusion, and he decided to postpone the decision to another day.
Some things cannot be hurried. The way it takes time for a bud to flower.
There is a reason for the long winter before the coming of spring. No, it is not for you to build snowmen and hurl snowballs at each other; winter is for rejuvenation, for the buds to sleep peacefully and dream of their debut on the grand stage of life when the world is covered in cherry pink.
