Give us Torres, and we can win everything!!!
Man U lost to Portsmouth today, because we could not put away our chances, because we did not have the luck, because Edwin van der sar was not there in the 2nd half, because we were one man down. All these are not reasons, they are excuses.
Put simply, we lost to ourselves. With our strength in depth, with our array of attacking talent, with Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez, etc, how could we not score? Alas, even though Evra hit the post, even though we had nearly 20 shots at goal, we scored a BIG, FAT, UGLY 0!!!
What a farce! But the ball is round, and that is soccer for you! That is life...
In contrast, look at Liverpool. Even as I write this, they are 3-0 up, with 1 goal by Gerrard, a bizarre goal by Pennant, and 1 goal by the man of the moment himself, Fernando Torres!!! He singlehandedly created 2 and scored 1, and considering the number of appearances he has made this season, the goal tally of his at this moment is already quite a phenomenal feat.
My words came back to haunt me; in an earlier entry, I said that despite our strength in depth, we would be much better off with a striker like Torres, and so far, he has managed to impress me everytime I see him play. Our lack of a cutting edge is our Achilles heel, and he would be that rapier that would enable us to penetrate the most sturdy of shields put up by the most resolute of defences.
"Give us Torres", I say.
『Whatever happens, there are always things you could have done better. You score two goals and you usually feel you could have done better. You score two goals and you usually feel you could have scored a third. That's perfectionism. That's what makes you progress in life.』
